Vintage Hat Boxes

1. No lettering . Burgundy and silver striped hat box with clear sides. No lettering. 15 ½ inches in diameter; 6 inches tall. [Photo]
2. “ Mr. John, Jr .; For the world's best-dressed debs and misses. 24 West 57 th Street ; New York 19, NY. New York , Palm Beach , Paris .” Off white with red and black letters on top and with a red rim. 13 ¾ inches in diameter; 8 2/3 inches tall. [Photo]
3. “ Lee ” hat box. Oval shaped . Top is 14 inches by 12 ½ inches. 9 inches tall. Sort of beat up. The only oval hat box that I have ever seen. Lid is dark brown with a gray rim at bottom. Side is striped with varying widths of dark brown, gray and tan stripes. [Photo]
4. No lettering . Tan & dark brown snakeskin hat box. Very sturdy with a brown vinyl carrying strap. 7 1/3 inches tall; 13 inches in diameter. Has a brass colored piece on the side that the strap buckles into. [Photo]
5. “ Woodward Shops at Hudson 's, Detroit .” Plum and pink stripes on side. Top is a powdery plum color. Burgundy cord. 11 ¾ inches in diameter; 7 1/3 inches tall. Stripes are ½ inches thick. Has outline of bird on top. [Photo]
6. No lettering . Tan & gold polka dot hatbox . 11 inches in diameter; 7 inches tall. Gold cord and gold dots. [Photo]
7. “ Peggy Freed ; 24 N. Charles St ; Baltimore , MD. 1124 N.Charles St. , Baltimore , MD. ” Black, white, and gold stripes on side . 14 inches in diameter; 7 inches tall. Unfortunately, it has some handwriting on the top, “Easter Hat.” [Photo]
8. “ Engel-Fetzer . East at Shaker Square ; Downtown on Huron Road at Euclid . West at Westgate.” Black top. Black and white twisted cording. Side is gold, black, white, pink and green stripes . 12 ½ inches in diameter; 7 ½ inches tall. [Photo]
9. “ Gage Hats .” Red top. Side of box has diagonally running gold and red wide stripes . Has a pale pink colored cord. Diameter is 12 ¼ inches; 7 ½ inches tall. Box is a little beat up. [Photo]
10. “ A McHenry Hat from Loveman's ; Harding Road ; 522 Union Street .” 14 ¼ inches by 14 ¼ inches. 7 inches tall. Square black box with pink polka dots. [Photo]
11. “ Gus Mayer, Company, Limited .” Tan with brown plaid stripes . Has a small four leaf clover on top. Tan string. 6 inches tall; 10 inches by 10 inches. [Photo]
12. No lettering . Cream colored cardboard hat box with black “snakeskin.” Side of lid is solid black. Cord is black. Box is in pretty good condition. Unusual looking. 12 inches in diameter and 7 inches tall. [Photo]
13. “ Elder's-Dayton, O .” Top is black with gold rim. Writing is in gold with Dayton , O in black on gold. Sides are small alternating diamonds of brown & beige on cream. Cord is black. In pretty good condition. 14 inches in diameter; 7 ¼ inches tall. [Photo]
14. “ Shop of Originals; Bon Ton.” Gold lettering and gold cord. Side of lid and rim around top is gold. Lid and background of sides of box are cream colored. There are large pink diamonds alternating with smaller gold diamonds alternating down sides of box . 10 inches in diameter; 6 ¼ inches tall. [Photo]
15. “ Sonni ” Pretty cream colored hat box with gold cord. Top of rim is gold at edges. There is a silk daisy on top with 4 rhinestones . Very unusual and in great shape. 10 inches in diameter; 7 inches tall. [Photo]
16. “ Gus Mayer, Co., Limited .” Small black octagon shaped box with gold lettering . Sides of the top are gold. 10 ¼ inches by 10 ¼ inches. 6 ¼ inches tall. Thin black string. In pretty good condition but it is not made of very sturdy cardboard. [Photo]
17. “ Darcel; Exclusive ” in gold letters. Side of top and cord are gold. 13 inches in diameter; 9 inches tall. Has a red mask, a tiny red crown and tiny red dots on top. Sides are red and gold alternating diamonds running vertically in row s. The gold diamonds are larger. [Photo]
18. No lettering . Black box with exploding gold stars . 11 inches in diameter; 6 ¾ inches tall. Gold cord. Unfortunately, someone put a price sticker on it. [Photo]
19. “ Stix, Baer & Fuller, Saint Louis .” Medium shade of pink box . Has green letters and green rim on top. Side of top is pale pink. 11 3/8 inches in diameter; 6 7/8 inches tall. Green cord. Bottom of box has a small tear. [Photo]
20. “ Jacqueline Millinery ; 510 Church Street , Nashville .” In fair shape. Has ladies in long dresses and in white tall wigs on the side . Edge of top is black. Gold cord. 7 inches tall; 11 ¼ inches in diameter. [Photo]
21. “ Lamson's , Toledo . Downtown Parkway ; Plaza Colony.” Cream colored with gold letters and cord. 12 inches in diameter; 7 inches tall. [Photo]
22. “ Giddings, Cincinnati .” Light gray with gold rim around top. Very thin tiny stripes around side of lid. 13 inches in diameter; 9 ¼ inches tall. [Photo]
23. “ Dobbs Fifth Avenue Hats . New York .” Black and yellow. In fair shape. 12 ¼ inches in diameter. 7 1/3 inches tall. Has horse & carriage on side of box. [Photo]

25. “ Castner-Knott ” hexagon box. Cream colored with gold lettering. Side of top is gold. 7 ¼ inches tall; 14 inches by 12 ¼ inches. [Photo]
26. No lettering . Pale pink vinyl square box with clear plastic window in front . Vinyl is quilted. Very sturdy. Door snaps shut. 12 ¼ inches wide; 12 ¼ inches deep; 8 ¾ inches tall. Window is 9 inches wide by 5 inches tall. [Photo]
27. “ Levy's ; established in 1887. Memphis .” Has a black crest on top that says, “Always the best.” underneath it. Box is tan with grayish muted design. Top is black rimmed. 10 inches in diameter; 6 ½ inches tall. [Photo]
28. “ Shop of Originals ; Burger Phillips of Birmingham , Ala. ” Off white with red lettering and red rimmed. Sides of top are silver. Cord is gold. In great shape. 12 inches in diameter; 7 inches tall. [Photo]

30. No lettering. Small hexagon shaped black box with cream lid and gold diagonal stripes on side. Has an image in gold of a lady in a dress and hat carrying a hatbox in each hand . Has a black string. 10 inches by 10 inches; 7 inches tall. [Photo]
31. No lettering. Green box with white daisies with yellow . Gold cord with gold rim around top and bottom. 7 inches tall; 11 inches in diameter. [Photo]
32. “ Joseph Fleischer; Original Custom Design . New York , New York .” Tiny round box with pink around lid and black cord. 7 ¾ inches in diameter; 5 inches tall. Smallest hat box that I have seen. [Photo]
33. No lettering . Gold and off white stripes around outside of box . Gold around sides of top and a gold cord. 11 inches in diameter; Just under 6 ½ inches tall. Unfortunately, it has handwriting on top that reads, “Tan and brown velvet.”
